Parents Reaching Out Model for Parent Training

OUR HISTORY

Project PROMPT is the parent training and information center for the State of Louisiana. Our staff and volunteers assist parents in securing a free, appropriate public education for their children with disabilities.

Project PROMPT provides information and training to parents of children with disabilities, on the rights and responsibilities under the Individuals with disabilities education Act (IDEA), and related federal and state laws.

Project PROMPT is a program of Families Helping Families of Greater New Orleans and has been funded by a grant from the United States Department of Education, since 1986.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Parent possess unique information about the development, nature and needs of their children. Therefore, Project PROMPT advocates that parents can and should become effective partners with professionals in the planning and implementing of appropriate programs. Project PROMPT is committed to training parents of children with disabilities to become full participants in their children’s educational process.
