Intermediate medical transportation, especially for those confined to a wheelchair, has been a problem in region 6 for many years. Now, with the help of a special contract, FHF may be able to assist OCDD and CSHS wheelchair confined family members when a medical trip out of town proves necessary and other means are not available. With its’ rear entry system and no hydraulic or electrical accessories normally found in “handicap” vans, the uniqueness is quite evident. We anticipate many years of use. Additionally, a contract with CSHS is in the making whereby travel stipend assistance to children needing to travel out of parish to hospitals or doctors may soon be available.
