Collaborative
Family School Community Partnership Project
The
Collaborative Family School Community Partnership Project promotes
collaboration between families, local education agencies, special
education programs, related services and general education personnel
to address education issues resulting in improvements in school
curriculum, school environment and improved professional
partnerships through on-going communication, referral and staff
collaboration.
Three
services to individuals in three groups:
The education staff
of Families Helping Families at the Crossroads of Louisiana is
available to provide information, training, and support regarding
the early intervention services, educational, and transition into
adulthood needs of children with disabilities, age’s
birth – twenty-six. Knowledge is power. We strive to make
information available to you about the many state and federal laws
and regulations that guide the way early
intervention, educational, and transitions into adulthood services
are provided. We target three groups: parents and family members
of children with disabilities;
children and young adults with disabilities; and
professionals.
Our job is to
educate individuals in these three groups, parents/family members,
youth with disabilities, and professionals, so that they can better
understand their important roles. Each has the
powerful opportunity and responsibility to assertively participate
in making decisions about the early intervention services or
educational needs of one individual child
with a disability. Individual members of each group are also
responsible for speaking out while policies are being developed
about how effective the resulting early intervention
and educational services will be when put into practice for a group
of children with disabilities.
The Families
Helping Families Center is to help individuals in each of the groups
understand their roles, rights, and responsibilities so that they
recognize the importance and want to become
well prepared to meet their obligations. Children with disabilities
have rights under a variety of laws, regulations, and policies. It
is when each of us takes
responsibility for our role in decision making processes that those
rights are honored.
How
does the Families Helping Families Center and the Collaborative
Family School Community Partnership Project help you better
understand your role, rights, and responsibilities?
We provide
trainings, both in person and from power point on our website.
(Please know that if you do not see a training that meets your needs
you are encouraged to contact us and request a particular topic,
date, or time that better meets your needs. Invite us to provide one
of our many power point presentations to you, your group, or
organization.) We can also set up training for an individual person.
Our most
popular service by far is private consultation or support by phone.
While this is also available by e-mail, or by scheduling an in
person meeting, most people seem to enjoy the convenience of a phone
discussion.
All Families
Helping Families Services are provided At No Cost To You !
